currentlymusing: Gmail workaround for Earlham mail forwarding/retrieval

For those of you [Gmail users] still suffering from the great Earlham mail forwarding fail of 2009, there is a workaround: Gmail can retrieve mail just as Outlook or other email applications would.

Just go to Settings, under the Accounts tab, and click "Add a mail account you own" in the "Get mail from other accounts" section. Enter your email address and the other info it asks for, and use the dropdown menu to change the POP server from "mailer.earlham.edu" to "pop.earlham.edu". Port 110 worked for me.

Hope some of you out there can use this info.

FYI for you guys using this fix. Your Earlham e-mail and password are sent in the clear on the server side. So if anyone is watching the server traffic they will see that. Its a small risk but a risk never the less.
